The march consisted of perhaps a thousand people, maybe more, up till Hyde Park. At this stage people who weren’t planning on walking to at least Southall were supposed to split off. Police dictate this stuff, ostensibly so they know what they are dealing with, but it also serves to reduce the number of people who appear to support the cause.
There were other rules we had to follow. The march takes on the legal status of a vehicle. In order to comply with this, apparently it can’t be wider than four people and has to move at a speed of at least 4 mph.
