Aldermaston 2004

Joined the first day of the Aldermaston march to protest against the development of new nuclear weapons.

The march set out from Trafalgar Square on Saturday afternoon, and is due to arrive at Aldermaston on Monday afternoon. All in it is about 50 miles (just over 80 kilometres). We walked for about 10 (16km). Not much for your typical masaai, but plenty for us…

In the picture you can see the registered walkers queuing up so they can be counted, and have their luggage loaded onto the support truck. There were about 300 people registered to do the walk, but as you will see from the photos, a lot more turned up to show their support, some of whom walked at least as far as us.
